The YLD focuses on the needs of members who are under 37 years of age or who have been practicing law for five years or less, regardless of age. The YLD sponsors many programs, including Law Day in Baltimore City Schools, Breakfast with the Bench Lecture Series, annual civil and criminal District Court practice seminar, new Admittees ceremony and reception, information booths at fairs, legal rights publications, social events including happy hours, sports league, holiday party, and an annual holiday party for homeless children. The YLD also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Baltimore Lawyer.

The Bar Association of Baltimore City is proud of its YLD, which has received national recognition for its outstanding programming.
