BENCH-BAR ALTER
EGO PROGRAM
|
The Judicial Administration
Committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City
developed this program, in cooperation with the
Circuit Court for Baltimore City and the District
Court for Baltimore City, to provide informal,
confidential feedback to individual members of
the Bench concerning judicial process, demeanor,
etc. The goal is to encourage comments, suggestions
and constructive criticisms from the Bar. This
program is not a substitute for the existing judicial
grievance system and is not to be used for conveying
substantive communications about a particular case. The
guidelines for the Alter Ego Program are:1) Participation
by members of the Bench is voluntary:2) Members
of the Bench designate an attorney as an alter
ego;3) A listing of the participating members of
the Bench and their alter egos will be distributed
through BABC mailings;4) All comments from members
of the Bar are conveyed anonymously to the Bench
unless the initiator directs otherwise;5)There
is no record keeping or publication of any communications;
and6) An attorney is not precluded from appearing
before the member of the Bench for whom he or she
serves as an alter ego, but service should be disclosed
to opposing counsel and considered along with the
usual factors in determining if recusal should
occur.
Members of the Bar Association of Baltimore City
may receive a copy of the list of Alter Egos by
calling Bar headquarters at 410-539-5936, or email
your request to info@baltimorebar.org.
